Fahd Jamaleddine Joins the JA Worldwide Board of Governors
January 20, 2023
This week, our CEO Asheesh Advani had the pleasure of meeting Fahd in person at the annual WEF meeting in Davos, Switzerland:
We’re delighted to announce our newest JA Worldwide Board of Governors member, Fahd Jamaleddine. The JA Worldwide Board of Governors makes one seat available to JA alumni to encourage alumni representation on our organization’s governing body. Last October, the Board voted and elected INJAZ Lebanon alumnus Fahd to fill the seat held by JA Bulgaria alumna Elena Tosheva, upon completion of her three-year term.
A total of 28 JA alumni from 17 JA locations around the world applied or were nominated for the Board seat. With representation from all six regions, applications came from Botswana, Canada, Denmark, Ghana, Guam, Hong Kong SAR–China, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Nigeria, Switzerland, Uganda, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Zimbabwe. The Board’s People Development Committee reviewed all applications, and then presented a shortlist of ten candidates to the Board for its vote.
The JA Worldwide Board of Governors shapes our global footprint, serves as a fiduciary body to oversee the activities of the JA network, and helps JA prepare for the opportunities that await us. Experienced JA alumni, especially those who have worked with a JA alumni association or JA member country and demonstrated strong leadership skills in education, entrepreneurship, or their own industry, were encouraged to apply for this prestigious position. The alumni member serves as the official alumni representative for the JA alumni community, advocating for alumni interests, voting on all decisions made at each Board of Governors meeting, and guiding the future of JA.
A social entrepreneur, education consultant, and reform advocate, Fahd is co-founder and Head of School Transformation at Nafda Lebanon, a collective that aims to build a movement for educational change in Lebanon. He’s also a Kofi Annan Changemaker Fellow, and the World Economic Forum (WEF) recognized Fahd as a Global Shaper. His track record of building communities, aiding thousands of teachers in digital upskilling, and co-creating sustainable school solutions impressed the Board. As our organization looks toward the future of education, particularly under the WEF’s Education 4.0 initiative, we’re thrilled to welcome a Board member with a passion for designing the schools of tomorrow.
Fahd participated in JA through INJAZ Lebanon in secondary school and at university. He has also volunteered with INJAZ, served as an alumni ambassador, and helped found the INJAZ Lebanon alumni association, for which he served as vice president. Fahd’s three-year term on the JA Worldwide Board of Governors will begin July 1.
