MMC Volunteers Make a Difference during Global Volunteer Month
Each year in May, designed as Global Volunteer Month, Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC) connects corporate volunteers with JA locations around the world, thanks to MMC's nonprofit focus on global education.
Two such locations in our Asia Pacific region recently held successful events. Prestasi Junior Indonesia hosted a JA Career Success Day, through which students and MMC volunteers in Indonesia practiced job-interview skills, resume writing, teamwork, and communication skills through fun, hands-on, small-group activities. These students have finished their schooling and are heading into the workforce next month, but as of the event, only ten of the 116 had secured employment. Students and staff are confident that number will grow substantially, now that students have practiced such relevant skills.
Meanwhile, at JA Hong Kong, students spent the day with MMC volunteers, using JA's fun and engaging tools to learn more about personal finance.
