JA Europe Enterprise Competition: Start Up & Thrive

June 26, 2020

From June 24–26, 2020, JA Greece played host to the annual JA Europe Start Up Competition. Originally scheduled to be held in Athens, the global pandemic forced the annual competition to go fully virtual. Fortunately, JA Greece is no stranger to virtual competitions, having held its national Company of the Year online on May 8, 2020.

The JA Europe Enterprise Challenge is the annual competition associated with the JA Europe Start Up Programme, which gives post-secondary students (aged 19 to 30) the opportunity to start and run their own companies. Held over one academic year (up to 26 weeks, with two to four hours spent per week on the program), 20 JA Europe countries participate. In 2019, 17,000 post-secondary students participated from more than 500 high-education institutions. Through the Start Up Programme, students develop attitudes and skills necessary for personal success and employability as they learn how to run a business. They build entrepreneurial skills and competencies, key to all JA programs.
