JA and IAAPA Launch The Business of Fun Contest
JA (Junior Achievement) Worldwide and IAAPA Foundation have teamed up to sponsor The Business of Fun Contest for 14- to 19-year-olds who are at the forefront of innovation, ready to test the limits of their creativity, and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit.
The attractions industry offers young people an unparalleled opportunity: unlimited professional growth in a growing industry across a wide variety of careers—combined with the most fun you can have at work. Many of today’s leaders at attractions around the world began their careers at the entry level, and are now presidents, owners, and operators. The sky really is the limit in the attractions industry.
The attractions industry requires continuous invention, because visitors return year after year, looking for both familiar and enticingly new experiences at the same time. The Business of Fun Contest give youth a chance to have their ideas reviewed by industry leaders, as they submit their best ideas for increasing the appeal of amusement parks and attractions for both new and returning guests. In addition to designs for rides, attractions, entertainment, and shows, students are encouraged to consider guest wait times, park facilities, lighting, safety, and food and beverage options.
Submissions may include an original work of art, a video, an infographic, photos, graphics, documents, or any other format that demonstrates your business innovation. Only individual entries submitted online will be accepted at jaworldwide.org/businessoffun between June 1 and August 31, 2017.
The top innovator will win a trip to the IAAPA International Attractions Expo in Orlando, Florida, USA (November 13–17, 2017). The trip includes transportation, lodging, and meals for the winner, a family member, and a JA sponsor (if applicable), as well as a private meeting with three key industry executives and VIP visits to Orlando attractions.
