FedEx Junior Business Challenge Holds Second Round in Connecticut

Four teams from Junior Achievement of Southwest New England competed in the FedEx Junior Business Challenge today at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut.

Team Sip ’N’ Slide presented a retractable metal straw that can be reused countless times. Stainless steel and dishwasher safe, Sip ’N’ Slide straws are reliable, cost-efficient, and above all, environmentally friendly!

Team Power On The Go showcased their keychain equipped with a portable SOS charger. Clip it to your keys so that you will always have a reliable charge whenever and wherever you go.

Team Simplex Lanyard showed a simple way to hold your keys, identification, and cards around your neck, as well as a portable device to charge your phone all in one convenient place.

Finally, Team JA Avon Old Farms presented a tumbler inspired by their school, Avon Old Farms, that can be used to carry coffee, water, and any liquid, keeping it hot or cold.

The teams faced a panel of four judges: three-time Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) tour winner Paul Casey, National Hockey League (NHL) Stanley Cup Champion (and Hartford, CT, native) Nick Bonino, entrepreneur and FedEx Small Business Grant winner David Zamarin, and Travelers Business Insurance field VP Sean Ramalho.

While each team impressed, Team Simplex Lanyard came out on top, wowing the judges with their product and presentation. They’ll join Team Our Story and one other (to be determined on July 2 at the 3M Open in Blaine, MN), at the PGA TOUR Championship for the FedEx Junior Business Challenge final on August 21 in Atlanta, GA, to compete for $75,000 for their JA location.
