Empowering Global Learning Through Microlearning with EdApp
October 29, 2024
Throughout October, a dedicated cohort of 25 JA staff members from 15 countries came together for a new microlearning training program led by JA Worldwide’s Emmalyn Green, Director of Learning Design, and Erin Sawyer, Chief People Development Officer. This initiative aimed to raise awareness of EdApp and its capabilities throughout the network, receiving in-depth training on this innovative tool. Through EdApp, regional operating centers and local offices alike can design and enhance learning experiences for young people and staff.
The primary goal of the EdApp cohort was to familiarize participants with EdApp, a mobile-first, user-friendly platform that offers bite-sized, gamified learning experiences. JA Worldwide is leveraging EdApp to train staff globally on Inspire–Prepare–Succeed, with plans to include board orientation on the app. Local offices are also exploring the potential of EdApp to deliver engaging student learning experiences.
Participants engaged in hands-on training by learning how to build learning experiences directly on the platform. This approach allowed staff to experience learning-by-doing in real time, mirroring the student experience. The cohort’s interactive sessions fostered collaboration and connection among staff, despite being in different locations around the world.
The cohort’s training emphasized the power of microlearning—delivering content in small, manageable chunks that are easy to digest and retain. This method proved effective, with staff enjoying the direct interaction with their peers and the practical, hands-on approach to learning.
JA Worldwide is committed to continuing microlearning and skill-building opportunities for its staff. The success of the EdApp Cohort highlights the potential of this platform to revolutionize training and education within the organization.
