Bring the World to the Classroom with the Climate Action Project

August 3, 2020

The Climate Action Project, a new global educational initiative, will launch in October 2020, offering teachers the opportunity to access climate-related learning resources and connect and collaborate with other teachers from every corner of the world. Through the Climate Action Project, teachers will receive curriculum, guidelines, and personal guidance from facilitators. At the end of the project, students will participate in virtual interactions with experts and other students.

The project has already been impactful. For example, students in Malawi planted 60 million trees; students in India developed a solar-driven cart; Canadian students created coral reefs using 3D-printing technology; American students developed a solar suitcase; and Irish students accomplished national change through the Green Dot movement. Thanks to a partnership with NASA this year, students’ messages and drawings will be sent to Mars.

All participation is COVID-friendly. Organizers are providing a special curriculum to guide teachers through the project with a minimum amount of time (approximately 30 minutes per week), as well as activities that students can complete at home.
