Andrew K. Tipping, Global Strategy Consultant
Dr. Andrew Tipping is a Global Strategy Consultant based in Chicago, USA. He lives with his wife Catherine. Their twins, Rowan and Gemma, are away studying at university. In January 2020, Andrew retired after 27 years in the partnership that evolved through Booz Allen Hamilton and Booz & Company to PwC Strategy&. He was the Chicago Office Managing Partner for both Booz & Company and PwC Strategy& for over 10 years
Andrew’s consulting work has ranged from short strategy-setting projects to multi-year transformations. His areas of expertise cover Strategic Growth, Leading Through Disruption, Organization Design, and Change Management. His industry focus has been transportation clients, such as couriers, airports, airlines, and trucking. However, over his career, he has also served financial services, energy, aerospace/defense, healthcare, and automotive clients. For the public sector, Andrew has led consulting support of major government transformations such as the Internal Revenue Service modernization (triggered by U.S. Restructuring and Reform Act) and the Pensions Service (following the UK Gershon Review). For JA, Andrew led teams that supported the last two cycles of global strategy refinement at JA Worldwide.
Prior to strategy consulting, Andrew undertook R&D product development at ERA Technology in Leatherhead, UK, and at University College London. Over the years, Andrew has mentored senior client executives and consulting staff as well as teaching both consultants and undergraduate students. He has published a broad variety of articles including, “Rise of the Last Mile Exchange,” “The Future of the Logistics Industry,” “It Makes Sense to Adjust,” “The New Strategic Marketer,” “Delivering Efficient Government Services,” and “Growth Champions.”
Andrew earned his degrees in England. He holds, an MBA from London Business School, a Ph.D. in Semiconductor Physics, and a BSc (First Class) in Physics and Mathematics both from Reading University.
